• United Airlines allows passengers to cancel tickets within 24 hours of ticket purchase when the scheduled departure is prior to one week or more. On such cancellation the passenger can get full refund of ticket without paying a cancellation fee.

• Passengers can only cancel tickets that are booked through the official website of airline, their ticket Offices or through their customer executives.

• The time frame of 24-hour cancellation policy begins from the time when ticket is purchased by a passenger.

• If a refundable ticket is purchased by passenger then it can be cancelled without paying any cancellation fee. The passenger can also claim to receive a full refund of the ticket.

• If a non-refundable ticket is purchased by passenger then it can be cancelled but the passenger will not receive any refund.

• If a non- refundable ticket is cancelled then its price can be used to purchase a new ticket. However passenger will have to pay a change fee of $50 to $150 depending upon their destination and the type of change.

• The ticket will be valid till 1 year from the date when ticket is issued.

• Refund depends on various factors like fare rules, destination, how much the ticket is used, time of cancellation etc.

• Refund will be given back in the same form used for payment.

• Refunds will be returned in a Credit card refunds may take 7 days to be processed.

• Other refunds will take 20 days to be processed.    

• If a ticket is purchased using United Gift Certificate then refunds will be given in the form of electronic travel certificates.

• In case of an unfortunate event like death of a traveling companion or an immediate family member, or jury duty, refunds will be given by the airline. However a fee may still apply.

• Refund can be requested online by filling a form or by calling customer executives.
